Literacy Consultant Mark Weakland, a former special education teacher, sits with Cheryl for a deep discussion about in-the-moment moves teachers can use in their phonics and reading instruction. You'll learn teaching techniques that help all students learn to read, write, and spell, including students who are struggling.

MARK WEAKLAND

Mark is an author, teacher, national presenter and speaker, and literacy coach and consultant. Keeping his feet firmly in the classroom by regularly teaching in schools, Mark works with teachers, administrators, and parents to make literacy programs and instruction more engaging and successful. He also loves to explore and make connections between the arts, nature, science, and education.

Cheryl holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, distinguished educational leader, and has been recognized with multiple awards for her achievements. She served as the lead curriculum developer for Learning Without Tears’ Get Set for School’s Language and Literacy curriculum, which received an AEP Distinguished Achievement award. In 2017, Cheryl was awarded the Investor Bank’s Educator of the Year Award.
