How do I unassign and/or reassign licenses?
You can unassign and reassign licenses when a student or educator no longer needs access, or when you need to move a license to someone else.
You can unassign and reassign licenses when a student or educator no longer needs access, or when you need to move a license to someone else. The steps depend on who the license is assigned to and how your account is rostered.
Manual or Bulk Upload Accounts
Unassigning or Reassigning Licenses for Educators
Educator licenses are managed in the Admin Console.
Go to the Admin Console.
Select User Management.
Find the educator and select the three dots on their user tile.
Click on Manage User Products.
In the Assigned Products section:
Remove (unassign) the product the educator no longer needs, or
Change the product assignment as needed.
Save your changes.
Once a license is removed, it immediately becomes available to assign to another educator.
Unassigning or Reassigning Licenses for Students
Student licenses can be managed during class setup or from the student record.
Option 1: From an Existing Student
Go to My Classes & Students.
Click on your Class.
Locate the student.
Select the three dots next to the student’s name.
Choose Manage Student Products (or the license option shown).
Remove the product to unassign the license or select a different product to reassign it. Note: Clever and ClassLink users can use this method to adjust student licensing.
Save your changes.
Option 2: From an Existing Class
Edit the class in My Classes & Students.
Navigate to the Manage Student Products step.
Adjust assignments for the entire class or individual students. Note: Clever and ClassLink users can use this method to adjust student licensing.
Save and confirm your changes.
Unassigned student licenses immediately return to the available license pool
Clever or ClassLink Accounts
If your district uses Clever or ClassLink, licensing behavior is different.
All changes (educators, enrollments, eligibility)
Must be made by your Clever or ClassLink administrator in the rostering platform.
Changes will sync to +Live Insights® during the nightly sync.
A same-day sync can be requested if changes need to take effect immediately. Requests can be sent to implementation@lwtears.com.
