Description:
Learn how Handwriting Without Tears uses multisensory, research-based lessons and materials to make print handwriting a natural and automatic skill for children of all ages and abilities. Includes explicit instruction for lessons, suggestions for progress monitoring, and a variety of implementation supports.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the 4 steps of explicit handwriting instruction that can be applied when teaching or remediating letters, words, and sentences.
- Select effective hands-on, multisensory activities to teach handwriting skills including grip, position concepts, alphabet knowledge, letter formation, and sentence skills.
- Choose 2 strategies that can be used to help children generalize handwriting skills across all subjects.
- Locate progress monitoring and differentiated instructional supports within print and digital educator resources.
Description:
Get the training you need to assess handwriting skills. You will learn how to administer and score The Print Tool® and Screener of Handwriting Proficiency. The session facilitator will guide you through interpreting the results and selecting strategies to support children in developing their handwriting skills.
Learning Outcomes:
- Administer and score the Screener of Handwriting Proficiency and The Print Tool® and choose remediation materials and strategies based on results.
- Describe the seven basic handwriting components essential to handwriting success.
- Understand different handwriting curricula, discover new handwriting resources, and use The Print Tool with various populations.
Description:
Use multisensory, research-based techniques to discover how cursive fits meaningfully in today’s classrooms. You will learn about the developmental teaching order, letter formations, and the importance of connections and how they change letter formations. Includes multisensory activities, implementation support, fluency, and personalizing cursive.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn the importance of teaching cursive handwriting to boost academic success in your students.
- Identify a multisensory, child-friendly teaching order to teach cursive connections, lowercase and capital letters.
- Learn how to integrate the Handwriting Interactive Teaching Tools with your students to enhance and support your lessons.
- Explore engaging ways to incorporate writing activities into your daily instruction.
- Locate additional resources to support your year-long handwriting instruction, including the Screener of Handwriting Proficiency.

Establish yourself as a handwriting expert. Join a network of specialists who understand the best practices for implementing Handwriting Without Tears® in classrooms, student evaluations, tutoring, and more.
You must successfully complete the following workshops in-person or virtually prior to seeking certification: Readiness & Writing for Pre-K, Handwriting Without Tears Print, and Handwriting Without Tears Cursive. You will follow one of two pathways: Self-Directed Certification or In-Person Certification.
Learning Outcomes:
- Administer and accurately score The Print Tool® and interpret results to guide remediation.
- Describe the seven core handwriting components essential to success.
- Develop a remediation plan to support goal writing for evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Handwriting Without Tears TK–6 and The Print Tool® through completing a successful multiple-choice format.
- Share clear, professional handwriting knowledge and resources with others.
